Car Free Day 2005
Lace up your sneakers, check the tires on your bike, and find your tokens, because tomorrow (Thursday, Sept. 22) is World Car Free Day.
But you're car dependant, you say?
Here's a few reasons to take a bus, Go, or carpool at the very least.
And if you're out of ideas, here are some alternatives.
There's going to be a celebration of sorts starting in Bellevue Square Park in Kensington Market starting at 4pm (tea time, incidentally, but it's B.Y.O.T. Seriously).
At 5:30p the pedestrians, bikers, trikers, and wielders of musical instruments will parade down the streets to City Hall, celebrating like the not-polluting-people they are.
Unfortunately, the City Council isn't ponying up any cash. They did, however "officially recognize the health hazards posed by automobiles and pledged their support for International Car Free Day." (Says the Sierra Club CFD team). Wow. Thanks for the support.
