Mission: Yard Sale!

I can't think of a better way to spend a sunny summer saturday then scouting out garage sales looking for hilarious deals. I have recently turned into a bit of a yard sale nut looking at listings and mapping out my route. I set my alarm clock early in an attempt to enjoy the warm sun versus the sick a/c I endure all week at work. There is something quite exciting about biking around with a balanced coffee in my basket looking for the piles of "junk" someone has carefully placed on their lawn.

Although I am not an avid collector of anything in particular I am certainly drawn to terrible statues of owls and funny shaped salt & pepper shakers. If it's less than $5 it somehow makes it's way into my hands and is promptly displayed on my mantle place. I suggest searching on craigslist, toronto star and buy & sell to find the best sales in your 'hood. I often see signs for sales on my bike route during the week and try and remember where and when things are happening.

I recently found a mate for my hot beach woman when I discovered her hubbie decked out in his trunks! High five, dudes! Another great find was some rainbow flavoured collectibles from Vancouver's Expo '86. Go rainbows! And even if you don't find what you're looking for, wasn't it great just to explore and laugh at the amazing things people want to get rid of?
