Contest: Win a Proud Voices Book Prize Pack

Pride Toronto 2008 is under way, and while a lot of attention goes to the parade, the big stage shows, and the late night revelry, there's also something for the bookworms out there tomorrow.

Once again Proud Voices is hosting a reading series featuring upcoming authors and distinguished veterans.

Presented in partnership with everyone's favourite Toronto magazine and book festival Word on the Street, Proud voices is a Saturday afternoon of free readings by local, Canadian, and international writers.

blogTO has a prize pack to give to a lucky reader, consisting of four books from the reading series. Continue reading for contest entry details, and Proud Voices' descriptions of the works.

THE BOOKS TO BE WON IN THE PRIZE PACK HERE:

The Sealed Letter by Emma Donoghue
Based on the details of a scandalous divorce case that gripped England in 1864, this is a provocative historical drama that is strangely relevant to modern issues surrounding women, marriage, rights and roles.

Troubled: A Memoir in Poems by RM Vaughan
Everyone falls in love with his or her therapist, at least a little. But what happens when the therapist not only loves you back, but also acts upon it?

Brother Dumb by Sky Gilbert
Brother Dumb is the memoir of a reclusive American literary icon. Brother Dumb is a how-to manual for meaningful critical engagement with the real world. Brother Dumb is a celebration of innocence, youth, and altruism. Brother Dumb is a true story of self-imposed exile. . . . Brother Dumb is also a work of fiction.

Bang Crunch by Neil Smith
Unexpected humour and tenderness intertwine with loneliness and hopefulness in this remarkable book from an already acclaimed writer. In nine richly varied stories, written in intense, clear-eyed prose, the reader is led into an exploration of the human need for connection, however tenuous or absurd, and at whatever cost.

TO WIN:

The first person to place a comment below stating the name of any author on the schedule who isn't listed above wins. Please use a valid email address so we can contact you for prize claiming details.
