Grownups Read Things They Wrote As Kids

I'm homesick and mosquito-bitten and I hate the cafeteria food! And I've got horrible spelling and grammar.

This is what I discovered when my parents showed me a letter I wrote them a long, long time ago. Typical perhaps for a 10-year-old kid experiencing his first time at a sleep-over camp. Still, it's extremely entertaining to read as a grown man.

We all have such gems in our closets, just waiting to share in a pub full of friends or strangers. Dig 'em out and have a good laugh at your own expense.

Tonight you can enjoy out "another evening of sad and funny diary entries, book reports, and other juvenilia," according to Daniel Misener, who is organizing this night at the Victory Cafe (581 Markham Street).

Join the event Facebook group or just show up and have a drink while you have a good laugh at the expense of the kid you used to be.
