Yeah, I'm a big loser. I just realized the reason there were so many book events in last week's post was because I mashed them up with this weeks. Bah! Anyways- here are THIS week's literary events.

Tuesday, September 18th:

This Is Not A Reading Series launches its fall season with Toronto poet and playwright Jonathan Garfinkel as he unveils his memoir Ambivalence: Crossing the Israel/Palestine Divide, with the founding father of Canadian collective theatre, Paul Thompson, a live Klezmer band and a belly dancer!
Gladstone Hotel (2nd floor). 7:30pm. Free.

The Art Bar Poetry Series welcomes featured readers Kenneth Sherman, Arianna Pozzuoli and Dennis Lee.
Clinton's Tavern. 8pm. Free.

U of T Bookstore Reading Series invites you to Jack Kerouac & a Skateboard-punk: An Evening of Fiction, with Ray Robertson, author of the novel What Happened Later, and Jeff Parker, author of Overman.
Hart House Library. 7:30pm. Free.

Di Brandt, environmental activist and author of Now You Care, will look at poetry as environmental consciousness and poetry as eco-activism, in this sustainable writing workshop.

Wednesday, September 19th:

International Readings at Harbourfront opens its fall season with authors Shauna Singh Baldwin, Robert Hough and Stephen Marche, who will read from new works of fiction.
Brigantine Room, York Quay Centre. 7:30pm. $8 (free for members and students with valid ID).

The Toronto Public Library's Uptown Author Series presents Rebecca Eckler, who will provide a no-holds-barred look at the mysteries and wonders of mommyhood and the joys of parenting after the first glorious eight months, based on her latest book, Wiped! Life with a Pint-Sized Dictator. Children are welcome.
North York Central Library (Auditorium). 2pm. Call to register: 416-395-5639.

The Diamond Cherry Reading Series presents Sandra Kasturi, who will read from her new book of poetry, The Animal Bridegroom, spoken word by CS Field Trio and poetry by Tanis Rideout, plus an open mic and our monthly contest. Hosted by Edward Nixon.
It's Not A Deli. 8pm. PWYC.

Steven McCabe launches his new book of poetry Hierarchy of Loss (Ekstasis Editions). Steven will be joined by dancers Preethi Gopinath (Bharatnatyam) and Paula Skimin (tap) along with classical guitarist William Beauvais and blues guitarist Paul Sanderson.
The Central Restaurant and Bar. 7:30pm. Free.

Canadian songstress Diana Krall will be In Person at Indigo, performing from and signing copies of her new CD, The Very Best of Diana Krall.
Indigo Bay & Bloor. 12:15pm. Proof of purchase from any Chapters, Indigo, or Coles will be required. Only one item per person. No memorabilia. Autographs are not guaranteed due to time constraints.

Thursday, September 20th:

This Is Not A Reading Series invites you to fasten your mental seat belts as CBC producer Jeff Warren celebrates the release of his Head Trip: Adventures in Human Consciousness, followed by a rave with DJ Noah Pred.
Gladstone Hotel Ballroom. 7:30pm. Free.

Theatre producer David Mirvish, actor Araby Lockhart and film critic Robert Cushman share their stories of the theatre in conjunction with Stage Struck, an exhibition at the TD Gallery of the Toronto Reference Library celebrating 100 years at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.

Eunoia and Crystallography author Christian BĂśk kicks off York University's Canadian Writers in Person reading series. Listen to a lecture from one of Canada's best-selling and most noted poets.

Friday, September 21st:

I.V. Lounge Reading Series presents fiction by Kate Sutherland, Marusya Bociurkiw and Andrew Daley.
I.V. Lounge. 8pm. Free.

This Is Not A Reading Series hosts William Gibson - in his only Toronto appearance for his new political techno-espionage thriller, Spook Country - in conversation with Space TV's Mark Asquith.
Bloor Street United Church. 7:30pm. $5 (tickets available at Pages Books & Magazines).

Sunday, September 23rd:

Ruth Roach Pierson launches her book Aide-mĂŠmoire, with additional readings by Helen Humphreys, Maureen Harris and Nick Thran.
Gladstone Hotel Ballroom. 3pm - 5pm. Free.

At twilight of the autumn equinox, the Royal Sarcophagus Society Press presents a launch for its two newest titles: the poetry anthology Nuit Blanche: Poems for Late Nights, edited by Liisa Ladouceur, and a collection of short stories by fantasy/horror author Nancy Baker. Featured readers, prizes and surprises to be announced.
