As always, the Art Bar Poetry Series presents Open Stage Night, hosted by Stephen Humphrey.

The Professional Writers Association of Canada, Toronto Chapter, hosts Cheers With Peers, an informal networking evening open to freelance and staff writers and editors.

Thursday, June 14th:

Join Sharon Harris as she closes her five-year-long photo shoot of the Toronto literary scene, Poetography.ca. The projected archive will feature pictures of Margaret Atwood, Michael Ondaatje, Ken Babstock, Christian Bรถk, Anne Michaels, and many others, plus 300 free photos for guests, and performances by Paul Dutton, Stephen Cain, and U.S. poets Dan Waber and Jennifer Hill-Kaucher.

Heather Reisman and David Steinberg discuss his latest work, The Book of David. Book signing to follow.

A Is For Orange presents Visions of Loving, a Pride celebration featuring readings and performances by queer, emerging Caribbean writers. Friday, June 15th:

I.V. Lounge Reading Series presents fiction by Sky Gilbert and poetry by Triny Finlay and Gordon Johnston.
I.V. Lounge. 8pm. Free.

Anar Ali, author of Baby Khaki's Wings, will read as part of the Toronto Public Library's Canada Council Heritage Series. The book of stories was short-listed for the 2007 Commonwealth Writers Prize (Canada and Caribbean Region). The title story was also selected for The Journey Prize Stories 16 in 2004.

Saturday, June 16th:

The Toronto Public Library celebrates National Aboriginal Day in the Beaches with folktales and crafts for the whole family.

Local poet Sheila Hyland reads from her recent work on High Park. Sponsored by the League of Canadian Poets and the Toronto Arts Council.

Simcha Jacobovici is in person, discussing his latest book, The Jesus Family Tomb. which tells the story of what may be the greatest archaeological find of all time--the discovery of the family tomb of Jesus of Nazareth.
