Comics on the cheap at 3rd Quadrant

How do you like your comic book store? If you're after a mass market-friendly geek Mecca, then clearly the Silver Snail is your destination; the grown-ups and hardcores probably prefer to play at The Beguiling. But if you can't quite shake the Simpsons-inspired view that a comic book store should be a dingy hole in the wall (or ground) that puts comics - and the endless fanboy debates about Civil War, Infinite Crisis, and whatever else - front and centre, then you'd better get yourself to 3rd Quadrant.

Tastefully located under McCaul street in a full-to-bursting basement space accessible via a Wolverine-painted door just north of Queen, 3Q is having its "Second Annual November Sale" today. They're the first to admit that the name of the sale isn't particularly flashy.

But with 50% off backissues and toys, and 30-50% off wall books, it's today's one-stop destination for all your Christmas shopping... if you're like me and know a whole lot of Ringers, Starwoids, Trekkies, and X-fans.

Sale's on till 7:00 tonight at 3rd Quadrant, located at 226 Queen Street West (enter off McCaul).
