This show will feature stand-up, sketch, interviews, and musical guests. The best part of the entire show is that Jeff Leeson, a guy that's a consistent killer on stage, is at the helm. He can make any situation funny, which is probably the most important quality required in a late night show host. You'll also have the opportunity to see MTV's growing star, Dave Merheje. How do I know he's a star? Kids are asking him for retweets on Twitter!

THURS SEPT 6 - SUN SEPT 9 / STEVE PATTERSON / YUK YUK'S / 224 RICHMOND W / VARIOUS TIMES / $11-20

The joke at the end of the first minute will tell you why Steve Patterson has been a mainstay at Just For Laughs in Montreal. In fact, that performance was so well-received that it earned him a Gemini nomination. Wowzers. I love the way his sarcasm blends with his professional demeanour. He walks that fine line between being likeable but politely scathing at the same time. Heck, anyone that can start their set off by making fun of the separatists, while in Quebec, gets my vote.

FRI SEPT 7 / LEWIS BLACK / MASSEY HALL / 178 VICTORIA / 8PM / $48-68

The first time that I saw Lewis Black was on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. I loved how he smoothly transitioned from calm and sarcastic to furiously angry, all the while putting forth an argument that you couldn't help but agree with. It's magical when comedians are able to set forth an opinion and prove it. I dare say that it's the one the things that our most beloved comics do best.

SAT SEPT 8 / MONKEY TOAST / COMEDY BAR / 945 BLOOR W / 8PM & 10PM / $10

I hate late night talk shows. They're more like late night monologue shows with (if you're lucky) a moment or two of people actually having a real conversation. Fortunately, Monkey Toast has done away with the idea that you need a pantheon of writers to make a show work. The show consists of guests interviewed by Ron Tite, who was named one of the Top 10 Creative Canadians by Marketing Magazine. For comedic variety, improvised sketches are injected in between the interviews, drawing their inspiration from the topics discussed. Your guests this week include Peter Aceto, CEO of ING Direct, and Bruce Sellery, host of Million Dollar Neighbourhood.

Last week, I was informed that someone, impersonating me, went on a homophobic rant on Eli Jakeman's blog (click here for the post). For the record, at the time the comment was made (2:19am on Sunday morning), I was at a club in Pickering shaking my tailfeather to Mavado's "Settle Down." It's unfortunate that this happened, but haters gonna hate...
