This Week In Comedy: Miracle on Mercer Street, Wade McElwain, Andy Pitz feat. Casey Corbin, Catch23, Pre-New Year's Eve Comedy Blowout with Mark Little

Feeling down because you got three clock radios for Christmas? Good news! Comedians in Toronto don't take the holidays off. This week, here's where you can get the gift you really wanted as we head into 2012.

MON DEC 26 - SAT DEC 31 / MIRACLE ON MERCER STREET / SECOND CITY / 51 MERCER / 12PM / INDIVIDUAL: $12 OR FAMILY 4-PACK: $40

When you're a parent, the holidays without snow can be tough. Instead of playing outside in a Winter Wonderland, the kids are inside, testing out their new - and very loud - toy space guns. This week, Second City's, 'Miracle on Mercer Street' gives parents a break with a puppet show that's suitable for the entire family. Don't worry: there's food for the kids...and a bar for the adults.

WED DEC 28 - FRIDAY DEC 30 / WADE MCELWAIN / YUK YUK'S / 224 RICHMOND W / 8PM / $20

Funny. And edgy. Like, really edgy. That's the best way I can describe Wade McElwain. He's the type of comedian that has audiences laughing and shifting in their chairs at the same time, which is probably why he's opened for the likes of Doug Stanhope and Dennis Leary. Back in 2000, he won the title of, "Funniest New Comedian" at the Canadian Comedy Awards and he's been headlining shows ever since.

WED DEC 28 - FRI DEC 30 / ANDY PITZ (FEAT. CASEY CORBIN) ABSOLUTE COMEDY / 2335 YONGE / 8:30PM / $6-12

If Wade McElwain's brand of comedy doesn't suit your earbuds, Absolute Comedy has put together a duo that will get the job done. You know a show is going to be great when even the opening act has a Comedy Network Special. Casey's negotiation through the IKEA maze in search of a fifty-cent gourmet hot-dog had me in stitches. To top it all off, Andy Pitz works clean and has been featured on David Letterman and Craig Ferguson.

FRI DEC 30 / CATCH23 / COMEDY BAR / 945 BLOOR W / 8PM / $8

Imagine a night of sketch comedy. Now imagine teams of sketch troupes facing off for improv supremacy. That's the idea behind Catch23, where the audience is judge, jury, and executioner. Expect the best upon arrival: the Comedy Bar is known for featuring improvisation experts like Greg Proops and Colin Mochrie from the groundbreaking, 'Who's Line Is It Anyway.'

FRI DEC 30 / PRE-NEW YEAR'S COMEDY BLOWOUT / THE DRAKE HOTEL / 1150 QUEEN W / 9PM / $5

By New Year's Eve, my credit card is useless. This year, I'm going to gather up what monies haven't been sacrificed to the Holiday Gods and ring in '12 with Mark Little and friends. Don't be fooled by his cardigan and glasses: Mark won Yuk Yuk's Great Canadian Laugh Off in 2009 and he's part of PicnicFace, a sketch troupe with their own TV show on the Comedy Network.

Have you seen any of these performers/shows recently? Let us know if you had a good time below!
