Rauschenberg Disappoints

Finally made it to the Corkin Shopland gallery in the Distillery District to check out the Robert Rauschenberg exhibit. The artist is a favorite of mine so I had high expectations heading into this. Sad to say it was a bit of a letdown. The star attraction here is really the gallery space itself - they wouldn't let me take pictures - rather than the art, although they are currently showing some striking black and white prints of trees by Thaddeus Holownia.

As for the Rauschenberg stuff, they had 6 different pieces. All but one of them used stainless steel or enameled aluminum as a base. The exhibit closes on January 22nd.
