A Little Someday Hopeful at YYZ Gallery

You know how sometimes you take a wrong turn and stumble upon a place that makes you feel crazy with excitement? Sort of like that feeling you get while sitting down with a spoon and a vat of Nutella? Recently, I found myself in Montreal, at this tiny co-op store, where local MTL artists made anything from hand-stitched zines to silk-screened mittens; all one of a kind and cheap. One of the zine artist's turned out to be a multi-talented explosion called Elisabeth Belliveau.

She knocked my socks off then, and even more now... not only was I mesmerized by her drawings, or the fact that she invented a homemade truffle-shop over the holidays, but specifically with an art show going on right now at YYZ Gallery, located at 401 Richmond. Elisabeth takes old leather gloves, bags, hot water bottles and even electric blankets and invents this crazy wonderland of emotional, curious creatures! This show will provide you with hours of daydreaming, guaranteed. Check it out, it's on til Feb 12th. Also for your files, should you crave a delish treat while in the hood, Terroni, a little ways down on Queen, makes Nutella biscotti... seriously.
