Yasi's Place and a New Look for Our Restaurants Page

Posted by Tim / January 27, 2009

Scrambled Eggs at Yasi's Place in Toronto West. We're excited to announce that we've made a few updates to the look of the main page in our Restaurants section that will hopefully make looking for restaurants in Toronto a little easier. A summary of the changes include:

* A new map interface to see where restaurants are located
* An expanded search tool that allows sorting by reader favourites
* Handy links to our food news, Best of Toronto content and City Guides

What better restaurant to launch the new look with than Tanja's review of off-the-beaten track Yasi's Place. Check it out. And if you have any feedback about the changes please add them in the comments below.

The page looks great; looking forward to using it. I noticed one problem, though, scrolling through resto categories: The correct spelling is "barbecue." There is no Q in barbecue.

While we're discussing the way the site is organized... I've sometimes wondered how you decide whether a place will be categorized as a bar, a restaurant, or a cafe. With a place like the Beaver Cafe on Queen West for example, a strong argument could be made for all three categories.

You're right. It's really just a judgment call.
