The above are just general guidelines. We're definitely open to and interested in hearing your thoughts and ideas on what you'd like to contribute in any of the above areas. In addition to the above, we're also always looking for writers/photographers to contribute bar or club reviews/profiles (like this), grocery, bakery or cafe profiles/reviews (like this).
What can you expect as a member of the blogTO team? Here' some of what we offer:
- Pay. Yes, we do offer some pay. It won't pay the rent but you'll definitely get some extra money in your pocket each month.
- Access. As a member of the media we'll help you get access to all the events and people you want to attend/meet.
- Support. Your own blogTO email address and business cards. Plus support and collaboration (when desired) from the rest of the blogTO team.
- Eyeballs. Get your writing read and your photos seen. blogTO's traffic keeps growing. Last month we reached about 200,000 unique users and realized 500,000 page views.
- Fame and sex. Actually, we can't confirm rumours that many of our contributors' sex lives have drastically improved since joining blogTO. Maybe TnO has a story about this.
Interested in joining the team? Just email us at jobs [at] blogto [dotcom]. In your email, please include the following:
1. Which of the above subject areas you'd like to cover
2. How often you'd like to contribute (it must be a minimum of once a week)
3. Information about yourself - how long have you been living in Toronto and anything else that you think we should know that qualifies you to write about this stuff
4. Links to any previous writing, blogging or photography experience
Thanks. You'll hear from us soon. We try to respond to all applicants.

Employee of City of Toronto brags about wasting taxpayer's money!
My husband and I arrived at the Canada Blooms ticket window at 4:50pm on Thursday. As the show admission price drops from $18 to $10 at 5:00pm, we joined the small group of people awaiting the computer to update the price, so that we could save $16. It was about 45 seconds before the price was to drop that a man bypassed the crowd and went to the ticket window, loudly boasting that he was attending as an employee of the City of Toronto and therefore didn't need to wait around to save $8. He then loudly suggested to the ticket lady that "they must all be employed by the private sector" and "too bad for them".
Yes, too bad for the Toronto taxpayers indeed! This man was proud to expense almost double the admission fee to save less than a minute of his time in a small line.
Although I live in York Region, this man's arrogant attitude and shameless behaviour still prompted me to send this comment. I can only hope that someone will read this and learn to be more accountable for their own conduct.
