Cool...and don't forget a 2nd mortgage so you can pay your Canadian wireless carrier's data bill!

Um, no.

You don?t need some proxy service to view a Web site on a mobile browser. Besides, the link you gave, which opens in an unrequested new window, will present a picture of a mobile phone within the actual mobile phone of the site visitor.

Design with Web standards and your sites will *just work*. The mobile Web is not a special Web that requires some gimmick or other.

Joe: why doesn't the photo above (of the web browser on a mobile phone) show the picture of the phone? Have you even tried it?

Re: Design with Web standards and your sites will *just work*.

Unfortunately there are so many standards out there (WML, xHTML, cHTML just to name a few) and each phone has its own quirk. There are also other issues like bandwidth and form factors that prevent it from "just work".

Nice, now I can browse on my Blackberry.

Designing with web standards won't even guarantee your sites work in Firefox or IE on a computer, which ignore standards because they're too standard to care about that stuff.

Talk to a stranger on the TTC Day; Friday April 4th. Take out your ear buds and sell hello to your fellow passengers. Think of some way of describing yourself in six words or less. Talk to lots of people; you see some of them daily but know nothing about them. Your might find a new friend. Pass the concept along and we'll see what happens.
